In conjunction with David Schafer’s solo exhibition, Four Letters to Mahler, Schafer will be performing the third installment of his Schoenberg trilogy. David Schafer will perform the third in a trilogy of electronically processed Schoenberg compositions. This performance will reference Arnold Schoenberg’s “Verklarte Nachte” from 1899.  Schafer’s first in this series was “Peirrot Lunaire”, performed at the Invisible Dog in Brooklyn as part of the series Maté curated by Richard Garet. The second performance, “Erwartung”, was performed at the sound event Intersist at David Kordansky Gallery, Los Angeles. David Schafer is a visual and sound artist working in sculpture, sound, sound performance, and works on paper, and has been performing under the moniker of DSE since 2010. His work is concerned with the structures, translation, and intelligibility, of language and architecture. He has recently performed in NY at Roulette as part of Musicircus, and Maté at Invisible Dog; and in LA for Radio Break at ForYourArt, at LACE with Dominic Fernow, and for Intersist at David Kordansky Gallery.

Carmen Burguess and Tomás Nochteff started Mueran Humanos 2006 as an art project working on installations, video, collage, prints and music. The music, a blend of electronic and electric sounds, became the central part of the project evolving slowly from very abstract to more song oriented structures, but retaining somehow the improvisation and experimental elements, resulting in a sound of their own. After a couple of singles and gigs all over Europe and South America, they released their debut album in 2011, supported by an U.S. tour through Blind Prophet Records (vinyl version, New York, USA) & Old Europa Cafe (CD version, Italy) to critical acclaim worldwide.

Peter Gordon will be performing with electronics, synth and sax. As a seminal figure in the downtown New York music community, Gordon is a composer, saxophonist and keyboard player whose work is noted for its original blend of lyricism, wit, and drama – often with a funky beat. Gordon is best known for his Love of Life Orchestra (LOLO), which integrates experimentalism with pop grooves. He has composed music for many theater and performance works, earning him Obie and Bessie Awards. Gordon’s recordings have been released on the Lovely Music, Lust-Unlust, CBS Masterworks, Warner Brothers, Bridge Records, Newtone and DFA labels. Recent releases include his opera collaboration with Lawrence Weiner, “The Society Architect Ponders the Golden Gate Bridge”, on the “Crosstalk” anthology (Bridge Records); and his collaboration with Factory Floor, “Beachcombing” (Optimo Music.)
