Bent Light
Studio10 A visual/sonic performance of projected light by Caroline Cox and improvised sound by Mark Deffembaugh and Tim Spells will take place at 8:30 on Saturday, Sept. 29th at STUDIO10 as part of Cox’s exhibition Look Around, Round, Round, Round, Round.
Using flashlights Caroline Cox and Larry Greenberg will interact with over 1,000 suspended glass lenses and layers of translucent components in the exhibitions’ installations. Mark Deffembaugh will play lap steel and interject sampled sounds from the glass components of the installation and Tim Spells will add his percussive response.
In an undetermined syncing with the music, swarms of elliptical shadows will slide up the walls onto the ceiling and drop to the floor. Replicating and canceling each other out, the dark overlays suggest the steep, angular shadows of Film Noir.
Look Around, Round, Round, Round, Round runs from September 7 — October 7, 2018
