Brooklyn Poets Reading Series
 

The Brooklyn Poets Reading Series returns on Friday, November 1 at Studio10. The reading will feature Monica McClure, Nick Sturm and Matthew Rohrer. Admission is free. Wine, beer and light refreshments will be served.

MONICA MCCLURE studied fiction, poetry, art history and literary theory at DePauw University and earned her MFA in Poetry from New York University. Her chapbook Mood Swing was just published by Snacks Press, and her chapbook Petocha/Chiflada is forthcoming from #wtfislongsdrugspress. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Los Angeles Review, Lit Review, Lambda Literary Review’s Spotlight Series, The Awl, Spork Press and elsewhere. She has taught writing at Bank Street College of Education, Bloomfield College and ASA College. With Brenda Shaughnessy, she is currently editing an anthology, Both and Neither: Biracial American Writers. She curates the Atlas Reading Series and lives in Crown Heights.

NICK STURM is the author of How We Light (H_NGM_N BKS, 2013) as well as a number of chapbooks, including WHAT A TREMENDOUS TIME WE’RE HAVING! (iO Books, 2012); I Was Not Even Born, with Wendy Xu, (Coconut, 2013); and Nancy and The Dutch (NAP, 2013), with Carrie Lorig, an erasure of paperback biographies of Ronald and Nancy Reagan. His poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Black Warrior Review, Typo, jubilat, PEN, Sixth Finch and elsewhere. He is from Akron, Ohio and lives in Tallahassee, Florida.

MATTHEW ROHRER is the author of A Hummock in the Malookas (Norton, 1995), Satellite (Verse/Wave, 2001), A Green Light (Verse/Wave, 2004), Rise Up (Wave, 2007), A Plate of Chicken (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2009) and Destroyer and Preserver (Wave, 2011), as well as the chapbooks They All Seemed Asleep (Octopus Books, 2008) and A Ship Loaded with Sequins Has Gone Down (Dikembe Press, 2013). With Joshua Beckman he wrote Nice Hat. Thanks (Verse/Wave 2002) and recorded the audio CD Adventures While Preaching the Gospel of Beauty (Verse/Wave, 2003); and with Joshua Beckman and Anthony McCann he wrote Gentle Reader! (Wave, 2007), a book of erasures of Romantic era texts. He teaches in the creative writing program at NYU and the NYU Low Res program in Paris and has lived in Park Slope for 19 years.
