Adam Simon Artist Talk: Against Originality / Why Words Fail Me
Swipe, Adam Simon’s second solo show at STUDIO10 exhibition focuses on paired taboos: theft and repetition.
Through their iconicity, art historical images serve as global shorthand for greatness and as part of our collective memory bank. In this respect, the paintings in Swipe share much with Simon’s stock photography based paintings, which examine prescriptive images of everyday human activity. Both bodies of work use a conceptual framework as a foil for pictorial invention.
